Mind - my protector - you caused us to survive against all odds - a frenzied childhood, a careless mid-life, and a tenuous old age.
Mind - my teacher - you led me to the pure joy of learning, a way lighted by sparks and flares of thought as old and new as time itself.
Mind - my confidant - you understood my flaws and mistakes but never gave me the easy out of absolution - the higher standard became my strength.
Mind - my haven - you built a place of quiet and healing in a cacophonous world of pain too loud to bear.
Mind - my entertainer - you spread before my ennui a feast of music and thought and expression to sate the hunger you created.
Mind - my beacon - you have led me home whether I was lost or becalmed and have never allowed anything to eclipse the Light which gives us purpose.
Mind - my guide - you have whispered and shouted to me when fits of pique and distraction could have led me from my Path.
Mind - my companion - we have, beyond any shadow of a doubt, become a greater soul than the sum of our parts.
Mind - my self - so how come you didn't warn me about the people who would caress my heart and slash my throat with a silken word?
