What do you get in the world of love?
A hidden thorn or a fragrant foxglove?
Budding flower or a withered wheat stalk?
An open heart or a closed lock? What do you get in the cycle of life?
A bucket of rose petals or a tub of strife?
Rugged pathways or smooth hills?
Angry oceans or calm rills? What do you get in the daily pursuit?
A basket of cherries or a box of rotted fruit?
Freshly ironed trousers or wrinkles to stay?
Wooden nickels or much cash on display? What do you get when life isn't o'er?
One day deeper in debt or richness galore?
A cabin with holes in roof or a mansion to share?
Chiming clock or hourglass in need of repair? What do you get when Heaven comes a calling?
A reservation into a golden palace or a hot kiln, your falling?
Charred piece of wood or a parchment with the words, "Accepted?"
Purity's robe or cinder clothes monogrammed, "Rejected?"
