The North Pole was cheerful and busy,
Many elves preparing for then Christmas delivery.
One elf was so sad, tears trickled down his face.
He was the tiniest elf, he hadn't been given his own chair
place.
Because he was so little the other elves were so
mean.
Their cruelest prank was painting him, red and green.
He wasn't allowed to make even a small toy for a child to adore.
His job was to clean up the sawdust on floor.
No one noticed when he left one day.
He packed his bandanna bag, slipping away.
Going on a dangerous journey, finding a new home.
Many beasts wait to capture any elf on the roam.
A blizzard was predicted that day.
Walking in the snowstorm, he soon lost his way.
Packing only a small amount of food soon he became hungry.
Wishing he was at the shop, being very busy.
He stopped to ask directions back from a Snowshoe
hare.
He said Mrs.Snowshoe Hare, "I have lost my way, information please
share.
I am Santa Claus's tiniest elf, I am so lost in this blizzard
here."
From his tiny eyes dropped a frozen tear,
An icicle which fell on the soft packed snow.
Mrs. Snowshoe Hare replied, "I know not where to go.
Santa Claus visits us all in his red sleigh.
Bringing lots of food, but there is a blizzard today.
"Tomorrow perhaps you will find your home, here's
the place.
You may wait here in my warm burrow, I have much food to eat."
She fed him vegetables she had gathered before winter.
Giving him a very good supply in his bandana suitcase.
He said, "I must really find my way back thanks
for your share.
Mrs. Snowshoe Hare replied, "Remember, Of the the Old Silver Wolf
must beware.
He is tricky, ferocious, so very mean to his chosen prey.
Really you must stay here safe till another day."
The tiniest elf really needed to get home, he was
homesick so.
He headed out again in the deep snow.
In the distant he saw a lemming darting about.
"Mr. Lemming." He called to the rodent making no telltale
route.
"I have lost my way, any information please
share.
"Just a minute of your time you may talk from there.'
I am Santa Claus's tiniest elf, I am so lost in this blizzard
here.
Do you know the direction I must go, it must be near?"
Mr. Lemming replied, "No but you may share some
grain nuts I stored away.
Stay here under the snow, safer that way."
The tiniest elf shook his head, "No I must really go. Thank you for
your time, Kind Sir."
At those words, Mr. Lemming disappeared, no sign of his ivory
fur.
As he topped the hill, He saw an old arctic fox
digging in the snow, impatiently.
He asked the arctic fox if he knew the directions, did he see.
Cautiously he approached the arctic fox digging with care.
Saying, "Granny Arctic Fox "I have lost my way, information please
share.
"I am Santa Claus's tiniest elf, I am so lost in
this blizzard here."
I want to go home now, having great fear."
Granny Fox said, "No I don't but a lemming meal, you can share with
me.
He told her, "No Granny Fox, I must find my way home to the North
Pole you see."
"I thought I didn't have a home worth staying
at.
But I miss my elf family, wearing my work hat.
I may be the tiniest elf in a thousand or so.
It's better building toys for the children than in this
snow."
Granny Fox said, "Of the Silver Wolf ,you must
beware little elf.
He is not a good friend, avoid him take care of yourself."
The tiniest elf headed back the way thinking he had to go.
Approaching his friend, Mrs. Snowshoe's burrow
Seeing the silver wolf with teeth so sharp in
defiant show.
He felt his new friend was in danger, running headlong into the wolf
in the snow
The angry wolf turned on him knocking him to the ground.
When the woods was filled with a loud sound.
Around the corner was his elfin family.
They netted the wolf, the tiniest elf was again in safety.
All hugged him telling him, "Please come back.
You have a new job in charge of painting wooden toys on the alphabet
rack."
The tiniest elf left to go back to his home
faraway.
He no longer desired to find a place that day.
He needed no other place than his own North Pole family.
It was the only place he desired to be.
