IRRECONCILABLE DIFFERENCES

Since grade school two loyal friends, Bert and George walked hand in hand.
Many paths over rocky trails, mud, water, and glassy sand.

All obstacles were overcome with an obscure friendship and The Lord in sight.
In Boy Scouts they camped out and hiked on beaten trails in the daylight.

Movies, dates, and sports brought their friendship closer than before.
Until one day George fell in a drug trap he couldn't ignore.

Bert was pushed aside because he remained loyal to The Lord.
George added alcohol to his list of continuing discord.

His unruly gang would push Bert around; they called him, "Square."
It saddened Bert to see his friend push away from church and prayer.

Bert's father was promoted and they moved away!
George never wrote Bert and tragic news was received one day.

It was so disturbing! The reckless life had taken away his best friend, George, forever.
For he had forgotten that irreconcilable differences led into the realms of never.
