PRE-MARITAL ANXIETIES

Wall clock is ticking in my confused head today.
I can hear my soon-to-be husband pace.
Nervous fingers arrange a misplaced petal on my bridal bouquet.
Looking in the mirror, a lock of hair is out of place.A glance at my dress, checking for a stain.
Stomach is churning, butterfly wings fluttering inside.
Pre-marital anxieties are causing a lot of needless disdain.
Wondering if all apparel is perfect for this soon wedded bride! The hour hand doesn't seem to move.
Waiting impatiently, Dad is wearing a trail in the floor.
I bet he can count every scratch and every groove!
Perspiration is beading above my brow, gazing at the closed door.Pre-marital anxieties are felt everywhere.
Awaiting my final minutes to walk my last single mile.
I can feel them from the tips of my toes to my fixed hair.
Mother has placed on my veil, it's time to walk the aisle!
