Shortly after Anna and Martha finished waving bye to Joe, Luke strolled through the front gate. Whistling a happy little Irish tune Luke seemed not to be bothered by the heat of the day.
"Samuel Lucas just where have you been all afternoon?" Martha queried as she shook her apron in frustration. "You missed seeing Joe."
"Nope, I just talked with her down at the corner Martha. Besides I was taking care of some business that needed tending." Walking past Martha he planted a swift kiss on her cheek, preceded to look over the clean crab pots. Luke then lifted two to start stacking them in the storage shed one by one. "Nice job young lady in cleaning these."
"Thanks Luke." Taking the gloves out of her back pocket Anna thought of returning to the last of the pots to finish cleaning, "Well I better get back to these last few." Sitting back down on the bench and picking up the scrapper Anna's attention slipped from the two older folks, returning to thoughts of the person whose scent still lingered in the air.
"Samuel Lucas what type of business you been up too? I hope you are not getting yourself into any monkey business or business that don't concern you."
Glancing at Martha following Luke back and forth putting the crab pots back in the shed, Anna soon tuned their voices out. Occasionally catching a word or two as it floated through the air "Yep, she was·" the voice of Luke lowering, "Surprised·" and Martha's little sing song voice bouncing over Luke's words, "None of · business· tomorrow?"
